romutec LVBs for networking fire protection components with BACnet MS/TP replace the previously used LON devices. These can be integrated into modern building technology management systems without gateways.
Medical care center for soldiers and their familiesIn addition to a promising new town with a hotel and shopping center, the development of a former training area is being continued with the construction of a new medical center. Equipped with state-of-the-art building technology, the health and dental clinic near Ansbach combines basic medical care and dental treatment in one building. The clinic is divided into three sections with a floor area of 3000m², designed as a two-storey building. The technical area is located on the 2nd floor.
Local priority operating and display unit supports the operation of the system in the event of faults and maintenance work. The data points are fully integrated into the building network thanks to the connection via BACnet.
The ventilation systems are installed on the 2nd floor. To ensure problem-free manual operation of the systems, they are equipped with a local priority operating/display device in accordance with DIN ISO 16484 (LVB) from romutec. The 19" manual operating level is integrated into the front of the control cabinet so that it can be operated by a non-electrical specialist.
The Metasys system from Johnson Controls is used as the building automation system. As a connection to the management level is to be implemented via BACnet, this combination only results in advantages in terms of investment and operating costs.End-to-end BACnet solution for fire protection components too.
n order to apply the advantages of the LVB to the fire protection components, the functions of the fire dampers and smoke switches were mapped in the BACnet network. The data points of the fire protection devices are recorded via fieldbus modules and collected via several BACnet MS/TP networks. An application is stored in the fieldbus modules of the fire dampers, which monitors the current status such as damper position, damper running time and maintenance run.The triggered, polluted, air flow and fault statuses of the smoke switches are displayed in the network. This data is also displayed on the LVB of the substations. New BACnet MS/TP modules from romutec are used there, which are specially adapted to fire protection components. The modular design makes it possible to arrange every application and system configuration clearly on the control cabinet door. Integration into the BACnet MS/TP structure ensures a high level of reliability. No higher-level master is required in the system; the LVB communicates directly with the field modules. Three different colors with flashing sequences can be set for signaling. This enables operators to get a quick overview of the status of the system. The LVB also helps to quickly restore availability during maintenance work. A maintenance run can be triggered centrally for each individual or all dampers in the system.
